Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you're visiting for skin care, massage, lymphatic therapy, or post-operative care, I want you to feel comfortable and know what to expect before you arrive. Here are answers to some of the questions I hear most often.

Appointments & Your First Visit

I'm not sure which service to book. What should I do?

That's completely okay. If you're deciding between treatments or aren't sure what would be best for your goals, feel free to reach out before booking. I'm happy to help point you in the right direction.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Every appointment begins with a conversation about what brings you in, your health history, any concerns you have, and what you'd like to get out of your treatment. From there, your session is customized to you. I never want treatments to feel rushed or one-size-fits-all.

How early should I arrive?

Please arrive about 5 to 10 minutes before your appointment, especially if it's your first visit. This gives you time to settle in and complete any necessary forms without cutting into your treatment time.

What should I wear?

For most appointments, simply wear whatever you're comfortable in. You'll be given privacy to change when needed and will remain appropriately draped throughout massage and body treatments.

For post-operative and lymphatic appointments, loose, comfortable clothing is usually best.

Skin Treatments

How do I know which facial is right for me?

You don't need to know exactly what your skin needs before you arrive. That's my job. We'll talk about your skin, current routine, concerns, and goals before beginning. Your treatment can then be adjusted based on what your skin needs that day.

What skincare line do you use?

I primarily work with Environ, a professional skincare line developed by plastic surgeon Dr. Des Fernandes. Environ focuses on vitamin A, antioxidants, peptides, and other ingredients that support healthy skin function and long-term skin health.

Do I need a home skincare routine?

Professional treatments can do a lot, but what you do at home matters too. You don't need a complicated routine or ten different products. I'm happy to help you build a realistic routine based on your skin, lifestyle, and budget.

Do you offer treatments for sensitive skin?

Yes. Treatments are customized, and having sensitive or reactive skin doesn't automatically mean you can't receive professional skin treatments. Please let me know about allergies, sensitivities, medications, or recent reactions before your appointment.

Massage & Lymphatic Therapy

What's the difference between massage and lymphatic therapy?

Massage primarily works with the muscles and soft tissues, while Manual Lymphatic Drainage uses much lighter, specific techniques designed to support the movement of lymphatic fluid.

Some of my wellness treatments blend different techniques, while clinical lymphatic care is approached differently depending on the reason you're seeking treatment.

Is lymphatic massage supposed to be deep?

No. True Manual Lymphatic Drainage is generally very gentle. The lymphatic vessels we're trying to influence are located close to the surface, so more pressure isn't necessarily better.

What's the difference between Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Lymphatic Restore?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle, lymphatic-focused treatment using specific techniques to support healthy lymphatic flow.

Lymphatic Restore is a more restorative wellness experience that blends lymphatic techniques with flowing bodywork for clients looking for both lymphatic support and relaxation.

Neither is intended to replace medical treatment for diagnosed lymphedema.

What is Lymphatic Sculpt?

Lymphatic Sculpt combines lymphatic techniques with more focused bodywork designed to support circulation, reduce the feeling of puffiness or fluid retention, and create a more refined appearance.

Results can vary from person to person, and the treatment is intended to support the body's natural processes rather than promise permanent body contouring or weight loss.

Post-Operative Care

When can I start post-operative lymphatic treatments?

This depends on your procedure, surgeon's recommendations, and how you're healing. I always recommend following your surgeon's instructions first. Treatment is adjusted based on your stage of recovery and what is appropriate for your body at that time.

Do I need clearance from my surgeon?

In some situations, yes. I may request medical clearance before beginning or continuing treatment, particularly if there are concerns about your healing or symptoms that should be evaluated medically.

What happens during my first post-operative appointment?

Your initial visit includes a consultation and assessment before treatment begins. We'll review your procedure, surgery date, medical history, current symptoms, compression garments, and any instructions you've received from your surgical team.

Treatment is then customized based on your stage of healing.

Do you treat seromas or other surgical complications?

Post-operative bodywork can support the recovery process, but it does not replace medical care. Suspected seromas, infections, wound complications, blood clots, or other medical concerns need to be evaluated by your surgeon or another appropriate medical provider.

How many post-operative treatments will I need?

There isn't one schedule that works for everyone. The number and frequency of visits depend on the procedure you had, your healing response, your surgeon's recommendations, and your individual needs.

Lymphedema Care

Do you treat diagnosed lymphedema?

Yes. As a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, I offer clinical lymphatic care for clients with diagnosed or suspected lymphatic conditions. Treatment recommendations depend on your medical history and individual presentation.

Is lymphedema treatment the same as a lymphatic wellness treatment?

No. Clinical lymphedema care is different from a wellness-focused lymphatic session and may include Manual Lymphatic Drainage, compression, education, exercise, and other components of Complete Decongestive Therapy when appropriate.
